Team Traveller

After the big win on Saturday, I was hoping to see how the legs would do with a second 60 minute race in a weekend. This was also the 3rd race in the MABRA Super 8 Series and I was second in the points race. After checking the In The CXhairs video, I felt confident that this could be a good course for me. There was a steep woods climb that had railroad ties layed across the path that people were running. I felt confident that I could ride them and save a few seconds and some energy. Then it was followed by a steep decent that went strait into 15 feet of 6 inches of mud. The rest of the course was flat and fast, with some tight, twisty turns and long power sections.

Jared Neiters skipped this race to go to the Providence UCI race so Joe Dombroski was the guy I was looking for. Sam O’Keefe got the holeshot and I caught his wheel. He powered us away from the field and it was looking like we were the strongest of the feild. I kept waiting for Joe to come up and deal his retribution from Saturdays race., When we went through the pits, I saw him, jersey off, talking to some of the mechanics, out of the race. Thats when I started feeling really confident. With 25 minutes to go, Sam got caught up in the tape, and I had no choice to attack. So for the rest of the race I did my best to increase the gap between us. I was able to ride to the win with a 30 second gap to second. I now have a pretty MABRA Cross leaders jersey that I will be trying to defend at DCCX in two weeks
